The red farm, a house of artists
Our interior design studio opened the doors of the emblematic Finca Roja in Valencia to show its architecture and exhibit the work of creators who have worked inside it. The tour allowed us to see pieces by the cartoonist Paco Roca, the sculptor Amparo Carbonell, the photographer Manuel Caparrós and the historic poster artist Rafael Contreras.
The Interior Design studio LAURA YERPES as Creative Supporter of WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL VALENCIA 2022 held, on the occasion of VALENCIA DISSENY WEEK, an “open doors” event where the public had the opportunity to visit the interior of the emblematic FINCA ROJA of VALENCIA, discover its history and architecture; and learn about the main works of the artists who have lived or worked inside. Visitors were also able to visit the studio’s ShowRoom and learn about the latest trends in interior and product design.
The artists represented in the exhibition were Paco Roca, renowned Spanish cartoonist, Valencia’s favorite son in 2016, in 2021 received a distinction from the Generalitat Valenciana for his impressive career as a graphic illustrator and scriptwriter; Juan Miguel Aguilera, science fiction writer, screenwriter and illustrator; Amparo Carbonell, renowned sculptor and Professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia; Joël Mestrerenowned sculptor and Ca, Painter and professor of Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, author of works that are currently part of the permanent collections of large institutions in Spain; professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia; Juan Ribes Coll, naturalist and impressionist painter of international relevance, with more than 6,000 works spread around the world; Rafael Contreras (deceased), one of the most important poster artists in the city of Valencia; Manuel Caparrós, a specialized advertising and fashion photographer who has dedicated part of his work to photography and artistic reinterpretation of the red estate and Montse Mas, specialist in Editorial Design and co-author of the “Typography Manual, a reference text in schools for the specialty of Graphic Design.
Likewise, a private event will be held on September 20, attended by the represented artists, as well as numerous authorities and people related to the world of design in the Valencian Community.
The exhibition took place from September 19 to 23, 2022 at the FINCA ROJA DE VALENCIA, received the attention of numerous media outlets (Cadena SER, Las Provincias, Mediterráneo TV) and received more than 250 visitors during the 5 days of the exhibition.

Paco Roca
Graphic novel, illustration and cinema
In 1996 he began his activity in the FINCA ROJA DE VALENCIA, specifically at number 28 Marvá Street, where he established his graphic studio and for ten years he scripted and drew his first works such as “The Lúgubre Game” (2001); “El Faro” (2004) and his moving and multi-award-winning “Arrugas” (2007) that would catapult him to international fame. Goya Award 2012 for best adapted screenplay.
J.M Aguilera
Science fiction, illustration and cinema
Juan Miguel Aguilera is a science fiction writer, screenwriter and illustrator. He has also worked in the design of film sets and special effects. As an illustrator he has created numerous covers for science fiction books. He has received numerous awards for his novels. For more than 10 years he had his studio on the Roja farm, sharing space and concerns with Paco Roca.
Rafael Contreras

(Deceased) Legacy
Rafael Contreras Juesas was a poster artist, graphic designer and photographer, who died in November 2017. Being one of the most important poster artists in the city of Valencia, he represented the Fallas of Valencia in numerous events, among which the poster he made for the Fallas of 1982 stood out, which still remains a reference today. Contreras lived for much of his life in Finca Roja where he was one of the most well-known and admired neighbors.
Joel Mestre

Joël Mestre, Doctor in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, is a painter with a workshop located in the Finca Roja (Calle Albacete 44) whose creations are associated with Valencian postconceptual or neometaphysical figuration.
His works have been exhibited in international galleries and are currently part of the permanent collections of major institutions in Spain (IVAM, DKV Art Collection, Bank of Spain, ARTIUM, ARS FUNDUM, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Caja Madrid, among others…) www.joelmestre.com
Amparo Carbonell
Sculpture
Amparo Carbonell Tatay is a Professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia since 1997, a Numerary academic at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos in Valencia and a member of the Valencia Council of Culture. As a sculptor, she has shown her work in numerous exhibitions, has exhibited her work in Galleries, International Art Fairs and Museums and has permanent work in different museums and institutions around the world. He has had his studio in the Finca Roja in Valencia since 2008. amparocarbonell.com
Montse Mas
Editorial design
Specialist in Editorial Design and layout, she is co-author of the “Typography Manual. From lead to the digital era”, a reference text in schools and universities throughout the country for the specialty of Graphic Design, since its first edition more than 20 years ago. She has been a professor in the Master of Graphic Arts at the UPV, an activity that she has combined with the design and layout of publications for both the private and institutional environments (MuVIM, UPV, Institut Ramón Llull, among others). Since 1999 he has lived at number 44 of Finca Roja.
Juan Ribes Coll
Painting (Naturalism and Impressionism)
Naturalist and impressionist painter of international relevance, with more than 6,000 works spread around the world. Many of his paintings have been acquired by illustrious people and private funds (Bancaja, Ibercaja and Santander, acquired part of collections), his exhibitions have toured every corner of Spain and are part of the “Contemporary Art Fund of the Polytechnic University” of the Institute Valencian School of Modern Arts (IVAM). www.ribescoll.com
Manuel Caparrós
Photography and conceptual art
Specialized in advertising and fashion photography, he created catalogs for numerous international brands, later specializing in the editorial reproduction of ancient codices and manuscripts. He has dedicated part of his work to photography and artistic reinterpretation of the red estate where he has located his studio for more than 35 years.
No one like him has been able to capture the nuances of this emblematic building.

Located in the red estate for more than 15 years, the L.Y. studio It has become one of the references of interior design in Spain. Laura has been selected as one of the best designers in the Valencian Community and her projects have appeared in the main decoration magazines: Mi Casa, El Mueble, Nuevo Estilo and ¡Hola!.
